The University of Missouri Kansas City Institute for Human Development works with a wide range of community and state partners to create and facilitate effective social change. Program development services and approaches are designed to BUILD THE CAPACITY of individuals, community and state organizations, schools, universities, and other community members to create more diverse, inclusive, and competent communities.
Through program development initiatives the UCE does not provide services and supports to individuals directly, but rather works to improve the capacity of individuals, organizations, and the community:
- To be more informed and effective advocates,
- To provide quality effective supports and services, and
- To be effective leaders in creating community, organizational, and systems change.
UMKC-IHD Program Development services and initiatives incorporate a logic model approach that emphasizes needs assessment and identification, development and coordination of needed resources/partnerships, implementation of evidenced based interventions designed to address identified needs, and the evaluation of anticipated short, medium, and long term outcomes.
