We are pleased to announce that the University of Missouri-Kansas City has appointed George Gotto, Ph.D., to serve as director of the UMKC Institute for Human Development.

George has served as interim director of UMKC IHD since August 2018. He joined the Institute in 2009 and was named Associate Director of Research in 2016. He has also served as a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics at the UMKC School of Medicine since 2017.

George is a founding member of the Missouri Self-Determination Association and is immediate past president of the Missouri Chapter of the American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. He also contributes to various statewide efforts and task forces, representing UMKC and the important constituencies we serve. As director, George will continue to lead our staff of 55 members.
